How I sew a zipper

Today I  am writing about how I sew a zipper. Unlike the instruction given in sewing books or on the zipper it self, I like to sew my zipper without tacking it down. It saves time and when something goes wrong I don't have so much ripping to do. Here is how I do it. First I fold and press the fabric where the zipper is going to be open . Then I open the zipper and pin it under the top of the folded fabric of the dress. With the fabric over lapping the zipper teeth 1/8th inch on each side. I sew it in place. When I come to the zipper slider I close the zipper up about 3'' and sew around it until I come to it on the other side. I make sure that when the zipper is closed the fabric is covering  teeth.. Then I pin and finish sewing the other side until I reach the top.  When I sew it this way it usually comes out nice and I hardly have to rip it again.
