Why I Like to Sew

Today I don't have a tip to share but I just wanted to get some feedback from those who sew. I'd like to know what do you like most about sewing and what things would you like to learn more about it.

I have been sewing since I was five years old. I don't quite know what I like most about it. Maybe it is the creative part or the feeling of accomplishment after completing a garment. I took a course in dressmaking and designing. I think I would like to learn more about the art of designing garments.

Sewing is my life.I sew for me and my family. I sew for others and I also teach sewing classes out of my house. I have a free on line class that I am trying to find the most inexpensive way to advertise. you can visit my site at http://http://www.faysoriginalsewing.com/.

I have a new sewing product coming out soon that I would like to share with you. It will cost but I am sure you will benefit from the information. I also promote other peoples sewing or related products. I have an information product about sewing machine repair.Click Here! It is about how to save money on sewing machine repair.

After all is said you can see that I am a sewing lover and would love to read your comments about sewing.

Thank you,

Fatimah

Straightening the fabric

Today's sewing tip is about straightening the fabric.

The idea fabric is on-grain with lengthwise and cross-
wise yarns that are perpendicular to one another.

Straighten the fabric completely on grain before cutting
or the garment will not hang properly.

There are basically two methods for straightening fabric.

If the fabric has crosswise designs then fold so that the
design matches the width of the fabric. If it does not then
draw a line at one end of the fabric that is a right angle to
the savage edge. Fold the fabric crosswise on this line.

The second method is straightening with steam. which is
generally used on 100% natural fibers.

Begin by spreading the material on a flat surface. If it
ripples or bubbles along the lengthwise fold, it is off
grain.

To straighten, steam press until the bubbles go away.
When you press, move the iron in the lengthwise and
crosswise direction only. Don't iron it diagonally
because this will make the fabric more distorted.

That's it for now.Look for more from me soon!
