How to sew a heart shaped ruffle pillow

Sewing a ruffled heart pillow is fun. You will need 1 yard of any kind of fabric. 1 spool of matching thread, and a marker. If you desire add 1yard of 1/4'' lace.

To begin fold the fabric in half, leaving it on it's original fold. Draw a half hart beginning from the fold line about 10in and 5/8'' long and it's widest part about 5 and 5/8'' wide (or bigger if you want). Cut. Then unfold. You should have two complete hearts. One will be the front and the other will be the back. Next cut two strips 5'' wide and 24'' long. These will be your ruffles.

Now sew a 1/4'' hem on the sides and edges of ruffles. Using the gathering stitch on your sewing machine, sew two strait stitches 1/4'' below the other edge of the ruffle, and one 1/8'' away from the other. Pull the stitches to fit around the edges of the front heart. With right of ruffle facing right side if heart. Pin in place and wrap gathering threads around first and last pin on each side. One ruffle per side. Next sew the ruffles down beginning from center and stopping at the point at the bottom on each side. Then pin heart back to heart front with right sides facing each other. Sew .Starting two inches from the bottom on one side of heart and stopping at the end on the other side. Turn pillow in side out. Pres . Stuff with poly fill stuffing and sew up the opening. Makes a great gift or decoration.

Note: If you are using lace , sew it on after hemming the ruffle.
