The idea fabric is on-grain with lengthwise and cross-
wise yarns that are perpendicular to one another.
Straighten the fabric completely on grain before cutting
or the garment will not hang properly.
There are basically two methods for straightening fabric.
If the fabric has crosswise designs then fold so that the
design matches the width of the fabric. If it does not then
draw a line at one end of the fabric that is a right angle to
the savage edge. Fold the fabric crosswise on this line.
The second method is straightening with steam. which is
generally used on 100% natural fibers.
Begin by spreading the material on a flat surface. If it
ripples or bubbles along the lengthwise fold, it is off
grain.
To straighten, steam press until the bubbles go away.
When you press, move the iron in the lengthwise and
crosswise direction only. Don't iron it diagonally
because this will make the fabric more distorted.
That's it for now.Look for more from me soon!
